Support the Library

Supporting your local library with donations is a powerful investment in the heart of your community. Libraries serve as vibrant hubs of learning, offering resources and opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds. Your donations can help ensure that libraries have the funds they need to expand their collections, provide essential services, and host educational programs and events. By giving to your local library, you’re not only preserving a vital institution but also fostering a culture of literacy, lifelong learning, and community engagement. Whether it’s through monetary contributions, volunteering your time, or donating books and materials, every act of support enriches the lives of those who rely on the library as a beacon of knowledge and connection.

Bestow a Book

Share meaningful events in your life and support the library at the same time by bestowing a book. With your contribution, you may select a book or subject, and a bookplate will be placed in the newly purchased item with your name and special message. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the birth of a child, honor an anniversary, or remember a beloved friend, teacher or relative. If you would like to bestow a book, please fill out a “Bestow a Book” form at our circulation desk.

General Donations

If you would like to make a donation to the library, you may mail it to the library in care of Dee Culbertson, Director. General donations help to maintain library hours and facilities and purchase materials such as books, magazines and audio/visual items. If desired, you may specify an area or activity you would like to support or talk with the Director about what is needed.

Gram’s Children’s Fund

This fund was started 2009 by the Behm family grandchildren in memory of Betty Behm.  Donations to this fund go to Friends of the Library to support and encourage children and families to read, learn and expand their worlds. The fund also supports programming that reflects Mrs. Behm’s wide-ranging interests such as travel, reading, women in business and local history.

Gram’s Fund is a great way to honor all grandmothers for the love and guidance they provide. Please consider a donation in honor of your mother or grandmother for Mother’s Day, a special Birthday or other event. Checks should be made to Friends of Madison Public Library with Gram’s Fund designated in the memo. Please talk with us if there is a special way you would like us to honor your grandmother with the donation.

Betty Behm was a 25 year member and former president of the Madison Public Library Board, and was instrumental in starting the Friends of Madison Public Library.  The Behm Family has been involved with Madison Public Library since its founding and continues to actively support a vibrant Library in the Madison Community.

Planned Gifts
